Chaos Magick: Grant Morrison Link-O-Rama

All these posts about Grant Morrison are purely coincidental.

I did not have some master plan of publishing several posts of Grant Morrison stuff. I know it was a big part of this post and all of this post. I just keep running across stuff I’ve either saved or new stuff altogether that’s awesome. I read somewhere once (I believe it was the Satanic Commandments or something) that if you do magic and it brings results but then you choose to deny it that your magic will fail. Grant Morrison is the one who pulled me into the world of magic. I believe this is probably me rendering unto Caesar what is his.

This is gonna be a huge link post.

I had to search all over the place for quality information on Grant. Some sites republished derivative garbage. Some were just trying to somehow profit off his name (somehow…they probably didn’t think it through.) Of course, being a nerd with a raging comic book boner, I was trying to find things on Grant’s comic book work. The man has an impressive portfolio. He’s worked on every major comic book character out there, he’s taken characters down narrative paths I would never have imagined, and he’s produced some of the weirdest and most entertaining pop culture work out there. Then I found out he did chaos magic.

Everyone has probably seen the Disinfo speech…

It’s a bit of a classic now. Haven’t seen it? Take about 45 minutes and give it a whirl. I’ll wait.

Pretty intense, yeah?

It seems so fantastical it can’t possibly be true. Yet maybe it is, I remember thinking. I believe the thing that impressed me most when I was done watching this video initially is that I had doubts. I had doubts about the paradigm I had subscribed to for my whole existence. I thought I was free but then this made me doubt that. From there I went down the rabbit hole.

Here’s another good conversation he had back in 2005 at the Omega Institute. This is audio only, so listen and keep reading.

Here’s one from 2011: An Evening with Grant Morrison & Gerard Way at Meltdown Comics. The best part about this one is that Grant performs the song that John Lennon gave him during gnosis…or drugs. Can’t remember which.

And here’s one where Frankie Boyle interviews Grant.

I would be remiss to not include Arden Leigh’s interview once more because it closes the loop, in my opinion, between the Disinfo speech and today.

But wait, there’s more!

I’ve also got a pretty good library of links to written stuff as well that will be of use to any new POP Magic! practitioner.

I’ve got one essay that I like from Christopher Lirette at Emory University back in the day.

There’s also a history of Grant’s comic book work from Comics Alliance.

Here’s another at the A.V. Club about his comic book work as well.

This one is pretty good as well by CBR after MORRISONCON.

There’s also the famous occult fuckery war between Mr. Morrison and Alan Moore. You can get a lot of information on that whole thing here.

Here’s a Grant Morrison interview over at boingboing.net.

Rolling Stone had an interview with Morrison back in 2011 that’s also pretty good.

Here’s a thesis on Grant Morrison.

Another interview article can be found here from Metro.

Here’s an interview with Morrison in Interview magazine by James Gunn.

Here’s another one on the Morrison/Moore rivalry.

Here’s another thesis type article on Morrison as well.

AUDIO OF GRANT MORRISON LECTURE – ALIENS, MAGIC, & THE MYSTERY OF REALITY

An interview from ArthurMag.

Another one from Comics Alliance about his great works.

One from io9 about the documentary Talking With Gods. Bonus: you can watch it at this link.

This one is interesting. Morrison’s take of the Sekhmet Theory.

You may or may not have known that Grant Morrison took over Heavy Metal magazine a while back as the EIC. Recently they put out a Magick issue (#286) which I would highly recommend searching out. I thought, for those that may have missed it, you may be interested in Mr. Morrison’s editorial essay on magic, so here you go. Here’s a link to their free preview.

Very good links: I’m still in the process of listening to them and I’ve just shared them with my small hypersigil group on Facebook.
Epic songwriting there from Grant, with the John Lennon song he got when he evoked John Lennon!

Yeah, the John Lennon song really impressed me. Glad you liked the post!
